  1. Boston Scientific Internship, Disease State and Technology RoadMapping

    The Disease State and Technology RoadMapping (DS&TRM) Team is a rising juggernaut whose mission is to provide knowledge-driven business strategy and cultivate disruptive innovation for the various franchises within Boston Scientific. This tight-knit group operates like a start-up and fosters a highly entrepreneurial, spirited, and collaborative environment. Projects typically include in-depth characterization and functional modeling of disease states, analysis of healthcare utilization, field research, and assessments of technologies, clinical trials, and intellectual property. Outputs of past projects have included development of novel prototypes, acquisitions, and clinical trial design for new therapies. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced work environment, is driven to learn and produce high quality work, and has a positive, good-humored attitude.

    Our interns are assigned to projects that will develop their clinical acumen, technical reasoning, and business acuity. Interns will be able to showcase their output to executives within Boston Scientific to influence critical business decisions. Potential responsibilities include:

    • Assess pathophysiology; determine novel therapeutic targets
    • Identify and prioritize technology opportunities using engineering first principles, technical requirements, and clinical requirements
    • Review clinical trial history, predict outcomes, and compare evidence between treatments

    Required qualifications:

    • PhD Candidate, Master's Candidate, or Undergraduate Senior
    • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0+
    • Knowledge base in biology (e.g. anatomy, physiology, cell biology, biochemistry)
    • Knowledge base in physics and mathematics (e.g. kinetics, calculus)
    • Entrepreneurial mindset and strong passion for the medical field

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Strong communication skills
    • Biomedical field

    I am contacting you from BD Technologies located in RTP, NC.  BD Technologies is offering summer internship programs this summer 2015.  The position will last roughly 12 weeks starting June 1, 2015, and ending August 21, 2015.
