Notes For Music Scores Pocketbook
Instructions: If your item has more than 1 score, each score will get bound. Please ask the Shelf Prep Coordinator (SPC) if you have 5 or more scores–the call number might have something like "scores 1-5" at the end. You will need to make dummy tickets for the lettering for each score. See instructions below in bright blue.
SCORE ALREADY BOUND. PLACE SCORE AND 1 PART IN POCKETBOOK.
Bind 1 score. Trim inside holes if possible. Do not bind 4 parts.
DO NOT BIND 4 PARTS. PLACE IN POCKETBOOK.
Bind 1 score. Do not bind 4 parts.
Bind 1 score. Do not bind 1 part.
Exception! Bind 1 score. Bind 3 parts as scores with hard covers. (This note is used when scores are spiral bound or loose leaves.)
Bind 2 scores. Follow dummy tickets for lettering for spine. {See explanation below in bright blue.}
Do not trim inside holes for all.
Place publisher bound score and part in pocketbook.
BIND 1 SCORE. TRIM INSIDE HOLES. EXCEPTION! BIND 1 PT AS A SCORE WITH HARD COVER.
BIND 1 SCORE. TRIM INSIDE HOLES. EXCEPTION! BIND 7 PTS AS SCORES W/HARD COVERS. DO NOT TRIM INSIDE HOLES.
Bind 4 scores. Follow dummy tickets for lettering for spine. (This note is used when all items are scores, the barcode is on one of them, and CB will bind each score and place them all in a pocketbook)
Make an extra ticket for each individual part or score that needs to be bound. A dummy ticket will travel with each item for the CB to know what to print on the spine. After the first score is added to the LOT, go back into the Item in ABLE, edit the call number to show score 1 and print ticket; then score 2 and print ticket; then score 3 and print ticket, etc. Remember to edit the call number to its original state and "Update Item". Use a bright yellow highlighter--highlight the note "Follow dummy tickets for lettering for spine" and highlight the score number on each dummy ticket for the CB.
Exceptions for Binding Parts:
Instructions: Normal sewn-thru-the-fold parts do not get bound. For spiral parts and loose leaf parts, binding will be necessary, These items need the note "EXCEPTION!" included on the ticket so the CB will know to bind them.
BIND 1 SCORE. EXCEPTION! BIND 4 PTS AS SCORES W/HARD COVERS. (b/c the parts are loose leaves)
BIND 1 SCORE. DO NOT BIND 4 PTS. RETAIN THE COVER FOR THE PARTS. (b/c of Post-it note on the score to retain covers)
BIND 1 SCORE. DO NOT TRIM OR TRIM INSIDE HOLES. DO NOT BIND 5 PTS.
DO NOT BIND COVER SHEET & PTS. PLACE ALL IN POCKETBOOK. (This is when the parts are in a cover that is being retained–barcode may be on the cover)
PLACE PUBLISHER'S BOUND SCORE & UNBOUND FACSIMILE IN A POCKETBOOK. (b/c of Special note on book)
BIND 1 SCORE. TRIM INSIDE HOLES. EXCEPTION! BIND 1 PT W/SOFT COVER.
DO NOT DISBIND SCORE. DO NOT BIND 3 PTS. PLACE ALL IN A POCKETBOOK. (This is when score is already bound; parts and score need to circulate together in a pocketbook.)
