New and Noteworthy, Lilly Current Lit, & Duke Authors Processing
The New and Noteworthy process continued to be part of Yankee Shelf-Ready, but the process changed again in July 2015. YBP no longer add Colibri cover (i.e., cover with Mylar on N&N books). Most N&N will continue to come via of YBP Shelf Ready but will need to be flagged with N&N flag upon arrival in order to know which ones are N&N books. Lilly Current Lit books will come via firm order and need to be flagged with Lilly Current Lit flags. However, Duke Authors will continue with the same process.
N&N=New and Noteworthy will no longer print over the call number, but Lilly Current Literature=Lilly Current Lit. will continue to print over the call number
Example
Lilly
Current
Lit.
Shelf Prep staff process and deliver the Shelf Ready New & Noteworthy and Lilly Current Lit books to the S&R bin for Annette in ADS to get Colibri covers put on. Annette is responsible for routing to the final destination.
*Duke Author's colibri: Will continue be processed with new titles and delivered to Annette in ADS for Colibri. If the call number is an "N" call number and Lilly is not over the call number, please leave as is [without the Lilly] for going to Perkins for placing on "Duke Authors shelves". The Library code will be PK7 which is a Duke Authors location with "Temporary Location" clicked on the item record.
Upon being notified by ADS staff of the barcode(s), all will get processed for Lilly once the item comes off of "Duke Authors" shelves and on to Lilly. We will then send a new call number with Lilly as the location.
New and Noteworthy books removed from N&N shelves and Duke Authors shelves
Every summer, ADS staff pulls N&N items that have a publication year that is two years prior to the current year. This pull is an annual event.
Shelf Prep sends the labels to ADS staff, and they affix new labels on the clear cover (without removing the cover, so the new label is on the plastic see-through cover, not on the publisher's book jacket) and send them to the re-shelving unit.
Any items that should be sent to Lilly or Music for final destination are sent to their appropriate location.
So, the books are getting labeled eventually by Tech Services, just two years after they are shelved rather than when they first arrive.
