Duke Press sends two copies of each monograph in their catalogs: one hardcover going to Rubenstein; one softcover going to CSD for scanning and then on to their respective permanent locations. DUL already holds the e-book for each title.
“Print Add-on” items (softcovers):
No order records; add holdings and item to record directly
Do not Receive (no order = no receipt)
Books get a white “Duke Press Book” flag
Copy-catalog as normal – assigning locations based on call numbers
CID p subfield contains special note:
DUKE SCHOLARLY BKS COLLECTION PRINT ADD-ON FOR EBOOKS 20XX
Attach spine labels
Set Status To = CSD
Done = No
Place in CSD bin in Shipping & Receiving to send for scanning
Rubenstein (hardcovers):
No order records; add holdings and item to record directly
Do not Receive (no order = no receipt)
Do not property stamp books
Barcodes are placed right-side up on acid-free flags (nothing on books)
Copy-catalog – all books go to Rubenstein, regardless of call number
NO CID
DUP Rubenstein item info:
Holdings location = SCL; Collection = PRB
Item Policy = Reading Room use only
Process type = Acquisitions technical services
At = SCL Acquisitions Department
Spine label placed on opposite side of barcode on the acid-free flag
Scan In Items:
Before scanning, change location to Rubenstein Library – SCL Acquisitions Department (location icon at top right of page)
Set Status To = Acquisitions Processing
Done = No
Email Rubenstein Technical Services staff for pick-up when finished
