Records in the Rubenstein Library and University Archives

Use the examples listed in the table to test the data for Rubenstein and University Archives records in the sandbox Books and Media Catalog.

What success looks like

• Generally, a record displays as expected, meaning:

  • All items are listed

  • Locations, call numbers, and item notes appear as expected

  • Any links on the record are supposed to be there and work as expected.

• Clicking the request button takes you to authentication (if not already logged in) and then to AEON

URLs marked as restricted

For the TRLN view of the catalog (see Records to check below,) we label most URLs as “Duke login only” to provide feedback to TRLN users about whether they can access the resources. We want to make sure this labeling looks correct in the sandbox.

What success looks like (when viewing through the TRLN view of Books and Media)

• If the View Online URL contains one of the URLs in the box to the right, it is marked as “Duke Login only”

• If the View Online URL does not contain one of the patterns above, it is marked simply as “View Online”

• View online links function as expected and allow access

Records to check

1. Set the Books and Media view to the TRLN view by choosing the “Duke, UNC, NC State, NCCU Libraries” option in the top left,

Electronic items with potential inventory issues

Use the examples in the table below to test the behavior of electronic records with potential inventory issues.

What success looks like

• Generally, a record displays as expected

• When the View Online button is clicked, if it’s an eBook, and there’s only one portfolio/resource, the link goes straight to the eBook portfolio

• When the View Online button is clicked, if there’s more than one ePortfolio / resource, an Ex Libris Services page displays

• When the View Online button is clicked, and the resource is a newspaper or journal, an Ex Libris Services page begins with (duke.userservices….)

Physical Items with potential display issues

Use the examples in the table below to test the behavior of items that have had issues with catalog display.

Display of request links on Summon records

Use the examples in the table below to test the behavior of the new Request links on Summon records for both Duke requesting and interlibrary requesting.

What success looks like

• The "Request Link" is displayed in the "Get It" section

• The link is displayed when users or NOT logged in

• When clicked, the link leads the user to a page in the Catalog Request System (test environment) for that MMS ID

• If the item is available, the ILL links do not display

• If the item is an article, the Requests link does not display.

• If the item is in electronic or streaming format, the Requests link does not display.

Refactored URLs for links to Ex Libris Services page

Use the examples listed in the table below to test the behavior of “View Online” links for electronic resources.

What success looks like

• The record’s IEE identifier (publishing identifier) is included at the end of the in Ex Libris Services link (the one beginning with “https://duke.userservices.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/open……”)

• Records have a single View Online button/link even if they have multiple portfolios

• The URLs point to the SOA/ExLibris Services page for that record (and then may auto-resolve to the resource)
