Deleting locations - recommendations

DRAFT SOP for deleting a location

• Search analytics for the location code as permanent physical location, temp location, and location.

  • Any active items found with the location need to be updated to remove it (even if it’s a non-active temp location.)

• Next day, search holding lifecycle = active and the location code to verify cleanup.

• In Alma, search the repository for the code under permanent physical location, temp location, and location to verify cleanup.

• Remove location from any fulfillment unit rules (loans, requests.)

• Remove location from any overdue / lost loan profiles.

Removing library

• Patron resource sharing libraries

• Associated service desks on role profiles

• Update any roles with refreshed role profiles

• Review outstanding requests, patron physical, restore, resource sharing, work orders

• Review missing/lost items

• Remove locations from fulfillment unit rules

• Remove locations from fulfillment unit

• Remove associations with work order types under circulation desk

• move any items to new libraries with norm rules / change holding job

Removing locations

• Search perm physical locations, temp location, location

  • even if temp loc is not active, still needs to be removed from item record

• Search analytics for

  • holding lifecycle = active, location code

Analytics impact

• Fulfillment - item location at time of loan, loan circ desk, renew circ desk, return circ desk

• Requests - owning library

• Physical items - library code and lifecycle
