Procedure for deleting locations

Procedure for deleting locations

  1. Search analytics for the location code as permanent physical location, temp location, and location.

    1. Any active items found with the location need to be updated to remove it (even if it’s a non-active temp location.)

      1. (presumably deleted items are OK because they only exist in Analytics - but that’s not something I found mentioned anywhere)

  2. Next day, search holding lifecycle = active and the location code to verify cleanup.

  3. In Alma, search the repository for the code under permanent physical location, temp location, and location to verify cleanup.

  4. Remove location from any fulfillment unit rules (loans, requests)

  5. Remove location from any overdue / lost loan profiles.

Once those steps are complete:

  1. Remove locations from the premium sandbox;

  2. Remove locations from production;

  3. Notify metadata-management channel in Alma Implementation Teams area of change(s)

As a reminder, locations can never be removed from Analytics, so people will still have to suppress any locations that are no longer in use.
