Manually sending a borrowing request from ReShare to Alma

We have occasionally (like once a semester) had an issue with Alma and ReShare where ReShare says that it sent the request to Alma, but the request cannot be found. That leaves the request in limbo - ReShare will not let you try to send it again because ReShare thinks it was a success the first time.

Your options to fix it are two:

  1. Manually create the borrowing request in Alma and manually receive the item;

  2. Try sending the NCIP transaction to Alma via Postman (see Testing NCIP transactions with Postman and the premium sandbox ).

    1. Note that if ReShare never actually sent the NCIP call to Alma (e.g., a scenario like a bug where “Expects to Ship” won’t get unstuck for the lending library), you’ll have to go to a request that did work, copy the NCIP “AcceptItem” call, and then edit the XML call to have the information for the item and borrower in question. See SN ticket TASK9151117 for an example in Fall 2025 when this was reported.
