Enrich a Local Specimen Database
Enrich a Local Specimen Database
An increasing number of museums include links to specimen pages on MorphoSource in their local specimen databases. Two prominent collection database software platforms (Specify and Arctos) are capable of querying the MorphoSource API directly to auto-populate the links between MorphoSource and specimen database records based on matching Occurrence IDs.
Below is an example of an online collection record from the University of Kansas Biodiversity Institute Ichthyology collection with an automatically populated MorphoSource link (click here to see the live page of the screenshot record). This kind of integration is straight forward for museums that use Occurrence IDs for published specimen information.
