Enhance Reporting to Data Aggregators

Publishing digitized specimen records and other kinds of data to aggregator services like GBIF and iDigBio can help museums improve the global discoverability, usability and impact of their collections.

MorphoSource has developed a tool that museums can use to export a CSV of media attributed to their specimens. This CSV-formatted manifest is normalized for out-of-the-box compatibility GBIF Integrated Publishing Toolkits (IPT). The CSV uses Audubon Core terms recognized by IPTs. Thus Museums with informatics support can harvest these manifests, package them with their Darwin Core manifests, and submit them to aggregators via IPT. The result is that museums can make media representing specimens discoverable in GBIF, iDigBio and other platforms.
