Project Temporary Access Links

If you are the manager for a project, you can generate a temporary access link for both the project and all media, private or published, in the project. Generating a project temporary access link will create a URL that can be shared with other users to grant temporary time-limited access to the project page as well as to all media record pages for all media contained within the project. Anyone with the link URL will be able to access a private or published project and private or published media within the project, whether they are logged in to MorphoSource or not, and whether or not they have a MorphoSource user account. For the media in the project, anyone with the link will be able to view media record pages and web interactive previews, but they will not be able to download any media file(s) (unless they already have access to download the media through their own user account). You determine the length of time for which the temporary access link is valid, with the default time length being 90 days. You can also revoke any temporary access link created by you or other project manager users.

This feature is only available for projects. It is not available for teams, although you can create a project nested within a team and then generate a temporary access link for that project.

To generate a project temporary access link:

  1. Navigate to the Project Edit page (pictured to the right).
  2. At the bottom of the Details tab, there is a section titled Temporary Access Links. This section will list both current active temporary access links, with information about which user generated the link, when the link will expire, and a button to revoke the link.
  3. In order to generate a new link, check that the expiration date is appropriate for your use case. The default is 90 days, and it can be customized by clicking on the date field. Then select Generate.
  4. The page will shortly reload, and your temporary link URL will be available for use and sharing. Clicking the icon next to the URL will automatically copy the URL to your clipboard, so that you can paste it elsewhere as needed.

It is also possible to generate individual media temporary access links, if you have edit access to a media record. See the Media Temporary Access Link documentation page for more detail about this feature.
