Calendar Management

Open and Closed Hours can be defined at the Library level. Exceptions for closures, such as holidays, can be added either at the library level or inherited from the institution level. Standard Opening Hours must be set at the library level.

The calendar affects both circulation due dates and the hold shelf period. The Hold Shelf Period value does not include days that the library is closed. For example, if the Hold Shelf Period value is 5 days and the library is closed for 2 days during that period, the 2 days are not calculated as part of the Hold Shelf Period.

 Managing a library’s calendar
  • Click the gear icon to enter Configuration.

  • From the top drop-down menu, make sure you are Configuring the correct location (ie, Marine Lab Library).

  • Navigate to Fulfillment > Library Management > Opening Hours.

  • Within Calendar Management, you can define Standard Opening Hours, Exceptions, and Events.

    • Standard Opening Hours are regular dates and times during which the library is open, based on the day of the week.

    • Exceptions are used to change open/closed dates and times for the library, such as for holidays, breaks, or other altered schedules.

    • Events are noted on the Alma calendar, and can recur weekly or yearly, but do not change whether the library is open or closed.

  • Click (plus) Add Record to set standard hours, exceptions, or events.

  • Enter required fields, depending on the Record type.

  • Click Add or Add and Close.

  • After closing, click Apply Changes to run the associated job.
