SBR Mission

Headed by Rowena Dolor, MD, the Medical Director of the PC SBR, and a Faculty Advisory Board, the PC SBR has the broad mandate of scientifically aligning the interests of faculty and academic missions of its components, ensuring compliance with research regulations and standards, establishing financial transparency and accountability, and serving as a conduit to provide necessary training to research faculty and staff.  Thus, the PC SBR functions as a support group.

The SBR as a Support Group
As a support group, the PC SBR will perform a wide range of services to its members.  Although the SBR is still in its formative phase, the SBR will

  • Communicate updates to research faculty and staff
  • Review and assessment of financial and clinical feasibility of proposed study protocols
  • Provide assistance in research project budget developments and contract negotiations
  • Ensure compliance with newly instituted billing activities such as reviewing and approving assignment of charges to projects
  • Provide training to research staff
  • Perform basic financial management tasks for study budgets

The precise responsibilities of the PC SBR and its underlying processes will be determined in the coming months.  What is clear now, however, is that the SBR will not function solely as a policing agency - it is primarily a support group to facilitate research efforts across multiple Departments.
