Web Analytics Pilot and FOLIO eUsage App
Recording on Warpwire (NetID req'd)

UNC SILS Master's Practicum Project: A Web Analytics Pilot at DUL
Patrick Conway, Delia Wegner, Chance Foley, Wesley Leonhardt, and Sam Dalsheimer; sponsored by Sean Aery

Our team of five UNC MSIS students worked with the AUXS team at DUL to run a pilot test of Matomo, a privacy-focused, open-source alternative to Google Analytics. The purpose was to evaluate the feasibility of decoupling from the Google ecosystem to better meet DUL's organizational values and commitments to user privacy. Through a collaborative and agile process, we implemented Matomo on DUL servers, tested technical processes on high- and low-traffic sites, engaged stakeholders, and provided a series of recommendations on how to best transition all 110 DUL websites to Matomo. Following an initial introduction from Sean Aery, our project sponsor, our team give an overview of our work and findings from the last few months.

Partnering with Students on Library Work: Evaluating Interlibrary Request
Angela Zoss and Gary Rowland

The Assessment and User Experience Strategy department regularly hosts practicum experiences for students enrolled in MLS and MIS programs. Each student spends a semester working within the AUXS department on one or more projects designed to meet high priority needs for DUL and allow students to experience aspects of library work that would be difficult to learn in a classroom environment. This presentation will begin with a general overview of the AUXS practicum program. Then, Gary Rowland, who completed a capstone project with AUXS this past spring, will share the work he did to evaluate our Interlibrary Request page and ILLiad request forms in preparation for an interface upgrade.
