How Can Museum Collection Staff Use MorphoSource?

MorphoSource has a variety of features designed to support museum collection staff managing media representing their specimens.  For museums interested in having a collection that they manage on MorphoSource, it is almost always most appropriate for them to register an organizational-management team. For instructions on getting registered as as a management team see the following article: How does an Organizational Management Team get created?

Though a museum could use a "project" or "standard team" for these purposes (see Projects and Teams), the experience will be poor and complicate management procedures compared to registering a management team.

The features of an organizational-management team can be found here: What is an Organizational Management Team?

To be clear, establishing a management team is potentially appropriate and useful even if the museum never intends to contribute data directly to MorphoSource. See What if you find media attributed to your specimens, but they were contributed by unaffiliated users?

The other sections of this article explain a number of ways that MorphoSource can help museums.
