Data properly de-identified per HHS guidelines are no longer subject to HIPAA privacy protection.

Prerequisites

  1. Secure your own environment.

  1. Follow Dept. of Health and Human Services' de-identification guideline
  2. Reach out to IU's HIPAA Privacy Officer and Health Data Steward if you have further questions about ensuring your data set is de-identified.
