Printing in Alma

Introduction

Most printing in Alma is done using browser printing - just like printing a web page.

There are specific features to manage printing for fulfillment tasks like hold and transit slips.

Set Alma to print slips automatically in your browser

  1. Open the Alma location menu, in the top right corner of the navigation bar.

  2. Check the box to “Enable Quick Printing”.

  3. Close the location box.

This should be saved with your Alma account so you only have to do it once.

If you work at multiple Alma service desks or department locations, you will need to check this box for each location.

Reprint an Alma slip that you previously printed

All circulation staff, including student staff, can reprint slips that you previously printed.

Circulation managers can also reprint slips for all circulation staff in Alma.

  1. From the left navigation menu, click Admin

  2. Click Printout Queue.

  3. Use the filters and facets to find the slip you need to reprint. Use the checkbox option to select multiple slips if desired. From More actions, choose preview if you need to confirm that the slip is correct. Choose Print to reprint the slip.

Transit and hold slips that print in Alma will remain in the printouts queue for 30 days.

Automatic printing of hold slips

Alma supports automatic printing of hold slips, just like Aleph. Some libraries will use this functionality, and some will choose to manually print slips from the printout queue.

If your library uses the Alma print daemon, slips will automatically print at a predetermined time.

If your library prints from the printout queue:

  1. Go to Admin > Printouts Queue.

  2. Select your service desk from the “Facets” menu, and select a status of “Pending” from the filter.

  3. Use the checkbox to select the printouts and choose “Print Selected.”
