Specimen metadata

These articles describe information about the metadata fields associated with specimen records. They explain what each one is, how to interpret their values, and what best practice approaches are to filling them in.  Ideally, most specimen metadata will be imported directly from an aggregator like iDigBio or GBIF.  When that is not possible and you, the contributor must fill in the information, it is still a good idea to ask a museum collection staff member directly about the specific values that should be used.
