Adding Documentation to the Collections Services Documentation Portal (CSDP)

1) Uploading a Word document

  • Open Confluence and sign in with your netID email address by clicking the arrow in the top right corner.

  • In the task bar at the top of the screen, select DUL Collections Services (Public) from the drop-down Spaces tab. The public space should only be used if you are confident the document does not contain sensitive information such as passwords, specific invoice or tax information, etc.
  • On the DUL Collections Services (Public) page, click Create

  • Next, click Page

  • This will open a window on the right side of the screen with the option to import.

  • Click on Word document. This will take you to the File Explorer screen of your computer’s files. After you locate the file from the Downloads folder, click Open at the bottom of the window. This will automatically close the window and upload the document ready for editing.

To import a PDF, it must first be saved locally as a Word document and then imported as a Word doc.

2) Creating a new page and using copy/paste to add content using the CSDP template

  • When there is no earlier documentation to import into the CSDP, you may choose to create documentation directly.
    • Sometimes the format of a document can change drastically when imported from Word. Depending on the content, it might be easier to copy and paste the content onto a new page instead of importing.
  • To do this,
    • click Create at the top of the page and select Page. This will open a blank page with a window on the right side of the screen. Choose Templates and select the template that includes the CSDP header called CSDP Documentation.

Note: When creating or importing a page, the page will appear under the space or page you are currently on. For example, when starting on the DUL Collections Services page, clicking the ellipsis and Create adds another parent page to that space. Each page shows the navigational path at the top. The example page below titled “Cataloging Standards” can be found on the DUL Collections Services (Open to All) space under the “Monographic Cataloging” parent page. This was created by starting on the Monographic Cataloging page and clicking Create.
