Configuring ReShare Server
This page documents what was done on 6-24-2022 to configure the IPLC server https://duke.reshare.indexdata.com
James Robinson said to start with step #3: https://openlibraryfoundation.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PR/pages/1986527242/Basic+System+Configurations
NOTE: the correct URL for connecting to Aleph development is
https://alephdev.lib.duke.edu:8991/ncip
Add an institutional backup user
The institutional backup user is in Aleph as ReShare, Backup Account. It exists on both dev and prod with the same barcode, so we shouldn't need to update these when we officially go live.
Add patron IDs for each institution
Amy indicated she thought it best to use the Relais accounts that already existed for each institution, so those have been added according to the directions at https://openlibraryfoundation.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PR/pages/1522106387/Institutional+patron+IDs
Those patron accounts in Aleph have a last name of "Borrow Direct" like so:
Some IPLC schools have two accounts, e.g., Harvard and Harvard 2 - this is because the borrowing volume made the first account hard to wrangle in the Aleph UI. ReShare is pointing at the first account, in those cases (e.g., Harvard, not Harvard 2.)
Add individual user accounts for system access
Erin created accounts for Amy Ravenel-Baker, Michael Edwards, James Britt. All three of them have the permission set "ReShare User." Michael probably should get the user set "ReShare Admin" but that felt like something that should happen after he arrives and plan is made for his orientation.
No passwords were issued because of questions about Shibboleth configuration (see below).
Inquire about permissions for student workers
The default install for ReShare provides a permission set for "ReShare User" and "ReShare Admin." The "ReShare User" permission set allows for changing some settings, so it's not appropriate to assign that set to a student worker.
Erin inquired on the basecamp and got sample responses from Penn and Dartmouth for how they were configuring users.
Erin set up a permission set "ReShare Student Employee" with the following permissions:
- Request: Create requests
- Request: Edit requests
- Supply: Edit requests
- UI: Directory module is enabled
- UI: request module is enabled
- UI: supply module is enabled
- UI: update module is enabled
"UI: Directory module is enabled" may not actually be needed, but it is only view access, so it seemed appropriate to include knowing it can be adjusted based on feedback from ILR staff.
Tried (and failed) to place a request
Erin tried to place requests through the Request app and all failed; James provided context that it was not yet working, since requesting depends on vufind and the borrow direct vufind infrastructure is not yet in place.
