Scope: Changes to be shared with vendors providing MARC records for Alma migration

The following changes need to be communicated to vendors for the Alma migration:

  • Character encoding must be in UTF-8 (Look for the “a” in the LDR field, if it’s not there, close the file and open again in MarcEdit. Check the translate to UTF8 box.)

  • Remove year extension from fund code in field 981 $b

  • For electronic resource records, remove the Duke proxy prefix

  • Date format must be YYMMDD in field 980 $a

  • Updates to 049 field:

    • subfield $a with location code (default NDDP)

    • subfield $b with barcode if providing shelf-ready

    • subfield $c with vendor code (see list below)
